The long weekend celebrating Martin Luther King, Jr. offers a chance to catch a breath after the hectic holidays and new year festivities. It's a quiet weekend on the event calendar, with time to recharge and remember a great man and leader.

For the service-minded, the Westwood Democrats are holding an MLK Service Event to benefit local veterans. Animal lovers and art aficionados will appreciate free admission to the zoo and museum. Or enjoy the crisp, winter outdoors with some warm reflection before a fire pit at Powisset Farm.
