It looks to be a hot and sunny weekend, and a perfect opportunity for a trip over water! Saturday is Free Ferry Day, celebrating the opening day for visitors to the Boston Harbor Islands.

But if fun means staying landed, the Sharon Spring Carnival is a good option any day this weekend.

If a good weekend is measured by doing that which one doesn't normally get around to doing earlier in the week, it can also mean taking time to give back. On Friday, University Station is collecting diapers for families in need. On Sunday, Westwood UNITED Lacrosse is holding a food drive for Westwood Food Pantry. There's also the Portraits in the Park annual fundraiser which supports free programming of Westwood's Early Childhood Council. And the Westwood Ringers will donate a portion of the goodwill offering it collects at its handbell concert toward aiding Ukrainian refugees.

Area libraries have got it covered with a good selection of entertainment for youth. Middle schoolers and high schoolers can stop by Westwood Public Library for Fri-Yay! Younger children can move and groove with Sarah Gardner at Medfield Public Library. Also in Medfield is a unique offering for all ages -- a performance by The Flying High Dogs, canine acrobats with frisbees.

Read on for these and more local entertainment selections! And if you haven't already, consider subscribing to the Westwood Minute email newsletter to stay up to date on things to do!
