Locally Shot Film Preview & Community Conversation on Adolescent Depression and Suicide
As part of an important discussion, Understanding Adolescent Depression and Suicide, the community is invited to attend a preview of the locally shot new film, Shattered Ice. Set in the fictional town of Nehoiden, (named after Nehoiden Street in Needham, MA) the film tells the true story of a New England teen hockey player's attempt to navigate high school following his best friend's death by suicide. The film seeks to raise awareness and impart a message to youth that there is light at the end of the tunnel.
Following the film preview will be a panel discussion with the film's screenwriter Jake Miskin and Executive Director of William James College's (WJC) Center for Behavioral Health, Equity, and Leadership in School Nadja Lopez. Also on the panel will be Dr. Larry Berkowitz, co-founder of the Riverside Trauma Center and Dr. Heather MacPherson, a clinical psychologist at WJC.
