The Select Board has no one to blame but themselves for what has transpired the past two days.
Thank you for your commnet with some very valid observations. As a resident of over 35 years I have participated in the past in Town Meeting and do vote. But now,ย as with other senior residents,ย it is not always possible to attend the Select Board meeting in the evening.
This didn't need to happen.ย Unfortunately, out of everything described of said individual, by the individual, there were key attributes not recognized and spoken of.
337 people showed up on a cold February night to vote against a non-binding resolution.ย
Yes, they did.
And this attendance and participationย demonstrates how strongly folks on both sides of this issue feel about it, and how a majority of voters wantย the Select Board to withdraw from the lawsuit. It was a far larger turnout than in annual town meetings.
It is false to assume a large majority of voters want the Select Board to withdraw. ย You can only say that the majority who showed up wanted to say that. ย According to Google AI, the average turnout at annual town meetings is 3.9% from 2018-2025, this was 4.6%. ย ย
