The parallels between events culminating in the Boston Massacre, March 5,1770, and those taking place today are striking. Like British troops back then, ICE and CBP agents are occupying our cities to enforce, even violently, the whims of an autocrat. To highlight those parallels, Neponset Valley Progressives and the Dedham Democratic Town Committee will sponsor a candlelight vigil in Dedham Square - on the corner of High and Court Streets from 5-6 pm, on March 5, the anniversary of the Boston Massacre. On that date, we will hold (already-created) signs bearing the names of each person killed by ICE and CBP along with those who have died in ICE custody.
Please join us. We need approximately 50 people to hold the signs, each with the name of a person to be remembered. We will also have battery-powered candles to share with participants. If you do decide to bring your own sign to add to the display of the 50 signs we already have, we especially encourage signs linking the Boston Massacre to current killings.

Thank you for this article! It’s so nice to see these staff members acknowledged for their hard work. I am especially grateful to our custodial staff who maintain the cleanliness of learning spaces during cold and flu season and any waves of the stomach bug.
I cannot remember the last time one of our elected reps (Lynch, Rush, or McMurtry) agreed to sit down with a challenger and answer questions.
