De-ICE Citizens Bank - March 7, 10-11 am
A number of for-profit prisons in the United States are getting rich off of warehousing detained immigrants. The conditions in these prisons are deplorable, with inmates reporting unsanitary conditions, food infested with worms, and a lack of medical care. Several detainees have died in custody.
A coalition of Indivisible groups from Vermont to DC are leading efforts to pressure Citizens to abandon its business lending to these prisons. These groups have been hosting coordinated actions over the past few months. The Coalition’s next action day is Saturday, March 7.
On March 7, from 10-11, in solidarity with regional Indivisible groups, we will stand on the sidewalk in front of the Citizens Bank branch on Nahatan St in Norwood. We will bring copies of handouts. Please bring "ICE Out," or "No More Funding of ICE Prisons" etc. signs.

Patchy rain nearby, with a high of 82 and low of 67 degrees. Overcast for the morning, patchy rain nearby for the afternoon and evening, mist overnight.
That must explain all the lawn sprinklers I saw running Wednesday morning. Oh wait, this takes effect Monday?
This needed to happen 5 years ago. But now the real wrangling begins as MPT will fight to get as much $$$ as they can from the state as possible”just compensation.”
I appreciate all of the work and time that the FS1 Steering Committee and Select Board have put into this process. I've also noticed a big difference in communication around this from the town on Facebook and Westwood Wire. This feels like a much different process than the first time around.
