Local author, conservationist, and adventurer Tom French will discuss his newly released book, The Gap Years: Climbing, Skiing, and the Journey Back, during "An Evening with Author Tom French," a free community event on Wednesday, May 13, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Farm Store at Powisset Farm in Dover. Registration is required.

This event is presented in partnership by The Trustees of the Reservations, The Norfolk Hunt Club, and Dover Land Conservation Trust, whose collaboration highlights their shared commitment to preserving open space, fostering community connection, and celebrating the natural world that defines Dover.

“The Gap Years is Mr. French’s memoir that follows his decision to step away from a decades-long business career and return to the passions of his youth through mountaineering, endurance sports, and global adventure. 

Described by Kirkus Reviews as “a riveting personal adventure story,” The Gap Years offers readers both high-altitude adventure and thoughtful reflection on aging, purpose, and reconnecting with long-held dreams.
