Powisset Farm in Dover, MA is expanding its Powisset Cooks! cooking classes to regularly welcome young chefs ranging from toddlers to teens. Youth cooking classes will be offered on Tuesdays throughout October, November, and December, with programs designed for different age groups. Tots in the Kitchen takes place in the morning from 10–11AM, while Kiddos in the Kitchen and Teen Test Kitchen are offered after school from 4:30–6PM.

“Powisset Farm’s kitchen welcomes more than 350 campers each summer through our Farmer, Forester, Chef! camp, and we love teaching local children about farm-to-table cooking,” said Powisset Farm Chef and Culinary Manager Charlotte Tracy. “Educating our young friends abut where their food comes from and expanding their culinary skills is something we want to continue throughout the year.”

Cooking begins at an early age at Powisset Farm. Toddlers are invited to try fresh organic Powisset veggies, as they begin to explore food and expand their growing palettes. The hands-on program gives toddlers the opportunity to cook in a professional kitchen alongside their grown-ups. Together, they’ll create delicious food while building early memories and developing a love of cooking. Tots in the Kitchen is designed for children ages 2–5 with an accompanying adult.

Similar to the cooking activities offered during summer camp, Kiddos in the Kitchen introduces elementary school-aged chefs to new recipes and farm flavors. Becoming the next master chef can start at Powisset Farm. Kiddos learn new skills in the kitchen, try new food, and most importantly, have fun. Participants will learn introductory kitchen techniques while preparing delicious snacks and meals using fresh farm ingredients.  

Brand-new this fall, Teen Test Kitchen brings the experience of Powisset Farm’s adult cooking classes to middle and high school-aged chefs. Teens will learn more advanced culinary techniques and recipes while gaining hands-on experience in the kitchen. The goal? To give young chefs the skills and confidence to create delicious meals at home—and maybe even take over dinner for the family.
