Norfolk County Sheriff Patrick McDermott and Sharon Police Chief Stephen Coffey announced on Tuesday, August 9,2022, that they will be hosting a free, family friendly “Summer Safety Fest” for area residents at Crescent Ridge Farm in Sharon on Saturday, August 20, 2022 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is an opportunity for residents to gather for fun summer activities and find resources for enjoying the summer safely. The event will feature demonstrations, games, and educational resources around summer safety.

“We wanted to give families and neighbors a chance to come together one last time before school starts up for some fun, education, great food, and the very popular Touch-A-Truck area” said Sheriff McDermott. “The Summer Safety Fest is our way of giving communities opportunities to have a great time, while learning about some of the amazing resources available in Norfolk County.”

Sharon Police Chief Coffey echoed those sentiments. “Sharon Police are looking forward to joining Sheriff McDermott, along with other town departments, to offer the residents of Sharon a fun free day,” he said. “Come meet officers, check out police cruisers and fire engines, enjoy food and ice cream, and have some community fun."

The Summer Safety Fest is free and open to the public and will include local community organizations, public safety resources, and a variety of games and activities for all ages, including a Touch-A-Truck station where people can tour various public safety vehicles.

The Norfolk County Central Labor Council is conducting a food drive at the event in coordination with United Way, and attendees are encouraged to bring a donation of non-perishable food items to help families who may be facing food insecurity in Norfolk County.

A school supply drive will also be held to benefit children who are involved in the foster care system.

Donations will be accepted at Crescent Ridge Farm on the day of the event as well as prior to the event at the Sharon Public Safety Complex at 213 S. Main St in Sharon.
