Congratulations to Brian Cole, Alex Tucker and Andrew Ventura on becoming Eagle Scouts! In the Chair's Update at Select Board's meeting of Monday, January 9, 2023, Select Board Chair Robert Gotti offered admiration and congratulations to the three young men who have attained the highest Scouting rank at the Eagle Scouts Court of Honor Ceremony held at First Baptist Church of Westwood on Sunday, January 8, 2023.

Each honored scout participated in a service project, and Mr. Gotti described each in turn. Brian Cole stained and installed a bench at the Westwood Integrated Preschool playground, replaced an old shed, added stepping stones, and led a clean-up effort.

Andrew Ventura designed and constructed outdoor seating and improved an outdoor butterfly garden at the Martha Jones School.

Alex Tucker is a former Westwood resident who moved to Dover, but decided to stay with his Westwood troop to continue his advancement through the ranks of scouting. His service project was installing four raised planters  at St. Ambrose Family Shelter in Dorchester, which provides shelter and support to homeless families in transition. The planters are being used by shelter residents and neighbors.
