NCSO Correctional Officer is Recognized for Lifesaving Actions
WORCESTER, MA – In recognition of his lifesaving actions at a motor vehicle accident last fall, Norfolk County Sheriff’s Office Correctional Officer James Reinhart received a Meritorious Recognition Award at the Correctional Employee of the Year Awards ceremony in Worcester on Tuesday, May 2, 2023.
Reinhart was returning from working a detail in Norwood on October 23rd of last year when he observed a motor vehicle accident that resulted from a medical incident. He quickly assessed the scene, gained access to the vehicle, and administered aid while awaiting emergency medical services.
Norfolk County Sheriff Patrick McDermott praised officer Reinhart for his heroic efforts. “James exhibited the kind of poise under pressure that helped to keep an already dangerous situation under control,” said Sheriff McDermott. “I consider it an honor and a privilege to be able to work alongside a hero like James Reinhart.”
Officer Reinhart was presented the award by Office of Public Safety and Security Secretary Terrence Reidy and Undersecretary Andrew Peck at Mechanics Hall in Worcester. The award is sponsored by the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security (EOPSS), the Massachusetts Department of Correction (DOC), and the Massachusetts Sheriff’s Association for DOC employees and County Sheriff Departments.
