May 19th is the deadline for the next round of applications for Westwood Community Chest's (WCC's) campership awards, which are financial aid awards of up to $800 per child to help Westwood families send their children to summer camp.
Eligible recipients are children residing in Westwood who are in kindergarten to twelfth grade. While WCC does not reimburse for fees already paid, it makes payment directly to the summer camp on a prospective basis.
WCC reviews campership applications at several different times during the year. March and April campership awards have been granted, and May 19th is the next upcoming deadline for the current award cycle. These are great strides in addressing concerns about a lack of openness and two way dialogue raised by Westwood citizens. Thanks to the Select Board and to Mr. Read for listening and acting.
Thank you Ms. Galkowski for this thoughtful acknowledgement of positive steps being made by our Town government. My generation loves the positive empowerment. Exemplary.
In promulgating the public comment policy, the Select Board has taken a big step towards showing willingness to engage in conversation with Westwood residents about the many important issues at hand—currently, the Fire Station 1 and the budget.
