Westwood Resident Ends Miss Massachusetts Competition in Top 10 (Updated)
Westwood resident Kiersten Khoury found success at the preliminary competition for Miss Massachusetts on Friday, June 23rd, and continued on to Saturday's competition where she finished her competitive run as a Top 10 Finalist.
Although Ms. Khoury didn't nab the overall title, the Westwood resident leaves the Miss Massachusetts competition having earned a number of scholarship awards. On Friday, Ms. Khoury won the evening gown competition, earning her a $200 scholarship award. As a Top 10 Finalist, she won another $400 scholarship. In Saturday's competition among the finalists, Ms. Khoury won the Frederick T. McCarthy interview award, which came with a $800 scholarship. In all, Ms. Khoury earned $1,400 in scholarship funding through her participation in the event.
On Saturday, Miss North Shore Chelsea Vuong was named the new 2023 Miss Massachusetts. A Top 3 Finalist in the Miss Massachusetts 2021 competition, Ms. Vuong received her education at Harvard University. She co-founded Financial Mile, a non-profit that helps students with personal finance and career development, hosts a podcast called The Currency Coach, and is a business analyst at McKinsey & Company. With her win, Ms. Vuong earns a $15,000 scholarship and will represent Massachusetts in the upcoming Miss America competition.
