Westwood Police Charge Mansfield Teen with Assault and Battery with Dangerous Weapon (Updated)
A 19-year old from Mansfield, Liam Campbell, was arrested by Westwood Police on Sunday evening, July 30, 2023, for allegedly causing injuries with a fixed blade knife to two victims in a home on Westwood's High Street. He had arrived there after two acquaintances called him for a ride upon finishing their visit at the residence.
The victims received injuries while defending themselves against the alleged attack by Mr. Campbell, said Westwood Police Lieutenant Christopher Sheehy. One victim received injuries that Lt. Sheehy described as serious from being sliced on the leg. The other victim received superficial slash wounds. Mr. Campbell received injuries from the victims defending themselves.
The victim with the serious leg injury, along with Mr. Campbell, were transported by Westwood Fire paramedics to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Needham. The person with superficial injuries did not require hospital treatment.
Five Westwood Police units responded to the incident, and assistance was also provided by Dover Police in making the arrest.
After a brief visit to the hospital, Mr. Campbell was transported to Westwood Police Station and held under $7,500 bail. He was transported to Dedham District Court on Monday morning.
Westwood Police have charged Mr. Campbell with possession of a dangerous weapon, two counts of assault and battery, and two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
