Furniture Donation and Bulk Item Pick Ups Begin Week of Sunday, March 17th
Residents of Westwood have two opportunities to clear large household items from their homes during the week beginning Sunday, March 17th. On that day, New Life Furniture is collecting gently used furniture to help individuals transitioning out of homelessness. The following day, the Town of Westwood's Household Bulk Collection Week begins on Monday, March 18th and goes through Friday, March 22nd.
To have your used furniture inspected for suitability for reuse and pickup by New Life Furniture on March 17th, sign up here. Items being collected are dressers, desks, dining tables, dining chairs, bookcases, and coffee tables.
For the Town of Westwood's Bulk Collection Week, each Westwood household may set by the curb one bulk item for free pickup, by 7:00 a.m. on the household's regularly scheduled trash day. Permissible items for pickup and disposal are listed below, and exclude appliances, anything with a plug, construction waste, hazardous waste, metal items, mattresses or box springs. The permissible items are:
- Furniture pieces (wood)
- Sofa/loveseat
- Sectional sofa (up to 3 pieces)
- Sofa with metal
- Desk or door (wood)
- Toilet
- Porcelain sink
- Bathtub (fiberglass)
- Fence (wood, cut into 3-foot sections and tied into a bundle weighing less than 50 lbs.)
- Wood swing set (cut into 3-foot sections and tied into a bundle weighing less than 50 lbs.)
- Rug (cut into 3-foot sections and tied in a bundle weighing less than 50 lbs.)
