Elementary School and Individual Winners of Westwood's 17th Annual Inter-Elementary Math Meet

On Wednesday, March 26th, students of Pine Hill Elementary School were the overall winners at the 17th Annual Inter-Elementary Math Meet held at Westwood's Thurston Middle School, where over 200 elementary school students participated, with a large crowd of family and supporters in attendance, said Ishani Tewari, one of the event organizers.

Students from third, fourth, and fifth grades of Westwood Public Schools competed in teams representing their elementary schools - Downey, Martha Jones, Pine Hill, and Sheehan. Fifth graders also had the opportunity to compete as individuals.

The results of the competition among grade levels from the different schools follows:

Overall School Winner: Pine Hill Elementary

5th Grade

  1. Pine Hill
  2. Martha Jones
  3. Sheehan
  4. Downey 

4th Grade

  1. Downey
  2. Pine Hill 
  3.  Sheehan
  4. Martha Jones

3rd Grade

  1. Martha Jones

In the individual competition among 23 competing fifth graders, the top three spots were won by:

  1. Lucas Wu (Pine Hill), 
  2. Evan Dias (Sheehan) 
  3. Andrew Akhmedov (Pine Hill).
