Unofficial Election Results: Erin Sibley Wins Select Board Seat, and Results of Other Races
In the two contested races in Westwood's Annual Town Election, the unofficial results are in - Erin Sibley has defeated Michael Walsh for a seat on Select Board; and Joanna French has been re-elected to School Committee, where she will be joined by a newcomer to the committee, Nicholas Vidnovic, III, with both candidates receiving more votes than their competitor, Matthew Donahue, according to an announcement by Westwood Town Clerk Dottie Powers via a broadcast by Westwood Media Center around 8:45 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28, following the close of the polls at 8:00 p.m.
Twenty-two percent of registered voters participated in this election, said Clerk Powers. She called it a "phenomenal" turnout for a town election.
No candidate's name appeared on the ballot for Housing Authority, but write-in names are currently being counted and will be announced on Wednesday, said Ms. Powers.
Other races were uncontested. The unofficial results are:
- Assessor (three years) - Mark F. Murphy
- Housing Authority (five years) - Write-in names are being tabulated and will be announced at a later time.
- Library Trustee (two seats, three years) - Wendy O. Hickey and Maureen Murphy Von Euw
- Moderator (one year) - James M. O'Sullivan
- Planning Board (three years) - Philip M. Gioradano
- Planning Board (one year) - Timothy Haladyna
- School Committee (two seats, three years) - Joanna M. French and Nicholas Vidnovic, III
- School Committee (two years to fill a vacancy) - Katie Willette
- Select Board (three years) - Joseph E. Previtera
- Select Board (one year to fill a vacancy) - Erin Sibley
- Sewer Commissioner (three years) - Francis X. MacPherson, Jr.
