Poets rocked the Westwood Library Meeting Room on May 5 at the 5th Annual Town Poetry Reading & Open Mic Night. Emcee Lynne Viti (Westwood Inaugural Poet Laureate 2023-2025), current Westwood Poet Laureate Beth Swinning (2025-2027) and Youth Poet Laureate Emerita Elizabeth Lowney (2024-2025) started the evening by performing a few of their original works. Next came Tuesday Evening Poetry Workshop members Mike Dwyer, Marilyn Gove, Jan Brogan, Brian Mich, Sherri Stepakoff and Debra David. Open Mic performers included poet Sara Letourneau and Westwood poets Jane Hart and John Aram .
This event marked the fifth annual National Poetry Month town reading, delayed by a few weeks due to an installation of the new audio-visual system in the library’s community meeting room. The Tuesday Evening poets plan a reading and open mic for next April. Thanks to the Westwood Public Library for hosting and Westwood Media Center for recording the event on its YouTube channel.
