Powisset Farm 4-H Club Invites Middle School, High School Students to a Teen Adventure

The Powisset Farm 4-H Club in Dover is inviting interested middle school and high school students from all towns to apply for an exciting year of hands-on adventures! 

From caring for livestock and growing fresh vegetables to cooking with farm-grown ingredients, exploring the trails, and tackling new outdoor challenges, every meeting brings something different to discover. Powisset 4-H members take on community service projects, build confidence through leadership and public speaking opportunities, and make lasting friendships with others who share a love for the outdoors

The club meets twice a month, year-round, on the first and third Tuesdays of each month, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., giving teens the chance to experience every season on the Trustees-owned historic farm. 

There is no deadline for applying. Because the club is year-round, new members are able to join any time. Animals are present at Powisset Farm from May to October. This is a favorite time for participants, but lessons will continue through the winter into spring.

“We are proud of our chapter of such an important impact organization,” said 4-H director and Trustees youth program manager Nina Sacco. “The 4-H helps young people build confidence, leadership skills, and practical experience through hands-on learning."

The Club’s junior leader, Maddie Santosuosso of Westwood, recounts her memories throughout her six years as a 4-H member, “My favorite part of 4-H is definitely the animals. It’s so fun to be able to work with them. I also love just being at the farm. It’s nice to disconnect, enjoy nature and make new friends.” 

For enthusiastic teens passionate about animals, curious about farming, or looking for a fun way to learn hands-on skills and try something new, the Powisset Farm 4-H Club is the place to be. Students from all towns are welcome to apply; reliable transportation to Tuesday afternoon meetings at the farm is required. Prior experience with animals or farming is not needed.
