Westwood Voters Approve Proposition 2 1/2 Debt Exclusion For Fire Station 1 Project
According to unofficial results tabulated by the town clerk's office for the State Election held on Tuesday, November 3, and through mail-in voting and early voting, Westwood voters approved a local ballot measure authorizing the Town of Westwood to exempt borrowing costs for the construction of a new Fire Station 1 from the limits of Proposition 2 1/2.
Westwood Town Clerk Dottie Powers announced the unofficial results shortly after 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening.
The yes votes numbered 4,592, and the no votes numbered 3,137, she said.
There were 366 blank ballots on the question.
That's 56.7 percent of total votes cast to approve the debt exclusion, and 38.8 percent against it. Blanks constituted 4.5 percent of the ballots cast on the local question.
Of voters taking a stance, 59.4 percent were in favor, and 40.6 percent were opposed.
The majority vote in favor allows the Town of Westwood to proceed with construction of a new FS1 at the site of the former Deerfield School.
