Westwood Fire Department Announces Start of Open Burning Season

Westwood Fire Department has confirmed with Westwood Minute that Saturday, January 15, 2022 is the first day of the open burning season for Westwood. The season ends on Sunday, May 1, 2022.

Permits were associated with a fee in the past, but are free to obtain this year.  To get your burn permit, click here. 

The state's Department of Fire Services offers safety tips for open burning. 

  • Conduct open burning between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. from January 15 to May 1
  • Locate your fire at least 75 feet from all dwellings
  • Stay as close as possible to the source of material being burned
