Led by Westwood Youth Lacrosse coaches Todd Weston and Matt Strzepka, and assistant coaches Tim Molloy, Jack Roycroft, and Julian Singh, the Westwood Boys 7th/8th Grade Select Team won the Mass Bay Youth Lacrosse League (MBYLL) Division I Select Championship Game against No. 1 seed Marblehead, 17-5.
Following a successful 7-1 regular season, Westwood entered the playoffs as the No. 3 seed, and earned a bye in the first round. They went on to top Walpole, 13-9, in the quarterfinals. The prevailed over Newton, 8-7, in a tight semifinal that came right down to the wire.
Westwood competes in the MBYLL, the largest youth lacrosse league in Massachusetts with one hundred forty-three towns participating in the boys program.
Congratulations to the 2022 G78 D1 Westwood Select Team who showed consistent Head, Heart & Hustle each and every time they stepped on the field this season.
Thanks to Treacy Kiley of Westwood Youth Lacrosse for contributing this news to Westwood Minute.
Moderate or heavy snow showers, with a high of 39 and low of 30 degrees. Don't forget your umbrella! Sunny during the morning, overcast for the afternoon, clear overnight.
Senator Rush is correct re: the ambulatory services. One only has to drive on RTE 109/Westwood to see the number of out of town ambulances going through town at all times of the day. Then they have to get to Boston or Needham.
This is progress and I am glad to see the Select Board moving in the right direction. However, a majority of voters at last Monday's Special Town Meeting voted to recommend that the Select Board immediately cease its lawsuit against the Westwood Land Trust.
What is the citizen's petition about? I checked the town website, and the only information I could find on town meeting articles was from last year. The public hearing dates for 2026 are posted as February 24-25.
Apparently, you need to submit a public records request through the town's FOIA portal. What a shame, since it should have been posted to the town website upon certification of petition signatures.
Westwood Minute has obtained a copy of the petition and has added a short description of it to the article. A copy of the petition is attached below the article.
