Stoughton Police Investigating Threatening Image AirDropped to Students at Stoughton High School
Multiple students at Stoughton High School received AirDropped photos of explosive devices from an unknown person on the morning of Thursday, April 6, 2023, prompting Stoughton Police to evacuate students and staff and complete a sweep of the school building with area k-9 units and the Massachusetts Bomb Squad, but the photos were ultimately deemed to make no specific reference to the high school and pose no credible threat.
Police evacuated students and staff to the nearby O'Donnell Middle School. Around 10:57 a.m. on Thursday, police determined that the school was safe.
Stoughton Police described the evacuation as clam and orderly and described the middle school's ability to host the high school students as seamless. Lunch was provided for more than 2,000 students before the high schoolers were safely returned to the high school for dismissal. The day had previously been scheduled as an early dismissal day.
Stoughton Police are continuing their investigation into the source of the threatening image(s).
