Keep Pets F.E.D. Cat and Dog Food Drive Through May 12

Thanks to The Animal Rescue League of Boston for sharing this news with Westwood Minute.

The Animal Rescue League of Boston (ARL) is looking to Keep Pets F.E.D. (Full Every Day), by asking the public to help the organization restock its community food pantry by donating critically needed dog and cat food.

The donated food will benefit the Keep Pets S.A.F.E. (Supporting Animals Facing Emergencies) Program, which was launched three years ago. The program helps to keep pets together with their families during emergencies, through services that include a pet food pantry.

The need has never been greater. In 2022, ARL delivered nearly 200,000 nutritious meals for pets in the Greater-Boston area, a 20 percent increase over 2021. With the need continuing to rise, ARL expects the program to eclipse the 2022 total.

The Keep Pets F.E.D. food drive will run from April 29 to May 12, and ARL’s food pantry is in urgent need of:

  • Dry dog and cat food (all varieties)
  • Canned dog and cat food (all varieties)
  • Small breed dry dog food
  • Dry and canned puppy food
  • Dry and canned kitten food

Unopened, unexpired, shelf-stable pet food may be dropped off at any of ARL’s three locations in Boston, Dedham, or Brewster, Wednesday through Sunday, from 1-6 p.m. Additionally, critically needed  items can be purchased at arl.boston/fed.
