Local churches feed the hungry
Parishioners from St. John’s Episcopal Church, Westwood and Epiphany Parish in Walpole journeyed to Boston on Sunday, June 8 to volunteer with common cathedral, a long-standing congregation that worships on the Boston Common. Common cathedral is an outdoor church and street ministry that provides worship, fellowship, and food to members of the Boston area unhoused community.
Bagged lunches with sandwiches, fruit, cookies and other snacks for 120 people were delivered by a convoy of three cars and 10 parishioners. The Reverend Michael Bousquet, rector of St. John’s Westwood and the Reverend Christen Mills, rector of Epiphany Parish in Walpole also attended.
Part of a larger ministry directed by Ecclesia Ministries, common cathedral has served this population for more than 28 years. St. John’s Episcopal Church has also participated in Boston’s Oasis feeding ministry and both parishes support food pantries in Westwood and Walpole.
