What gives the Westwood Conservation Commission the Authority to Vote on and Attempt to Override the Land Trust’s Decision Regarding the Meadow on Clapboardtree Street?
I’ve just read the Town’s March 5, 2024 letter to the Westwood Land Trust stating that “On January 10, 2024, the Conservation Commission met and unanimously approved the agricultural exception for this property”. Why was the Conservation Commission allowed to vote on this issue when the Conservation Restriction (CR) on this property clearly indicates that the Westwood Land Trust has the ultimate decision-making authority on how the land is used? I haven’t found anything on the Town’s website giving the Conservation Commission the authority to override the Westwood Land Trust’s decisions.
Furthermore, the claim that the vote was “unanimous” is misleading because two members of the seven-member commission had to leave the room before the vote was taken.
