The Town of Westwood Clearly Sued the Land Trust First

This post expresses the views and opinions of the author(s) and not necessarily that of Westwood Minute management or staff.

I've carefully reviewed the Town's Lawsuit and the Land Trust's Counterclaim.   The Town's lawsuit against the Land Trust is dated July 25, 2025.  The Westwood Land Trust's Answer and Counterclaim was filed on September 9, 2025 and docketed on September 16, 2025.   I don't know which party threatened litigation first, or even if that's important, but I do know that the Town raised the possibility of litigation as early as the January 10, 2024 at a meeting of the Conservation Commission.

So, what is the purpose of this post?  The Town of Westwood filed court action was to protect the rights of the Town that the Town felt were being violated by the Land Trust.

The Bean Farm's attempt at this LAND GRAB is horrifying. A Land Trust is a land Trust, it's for everyone to enjoy. The fact that the Beans are framing this as a "Save the Bean Family Farm" is disingenuous because they already possess land worth million$. If the Bean Farm closes & sells their land, they'll make millions of dollars. The greed makes me ill. I would not be surprised if Westwood politicians were bribed.
