As of this posting, there are seven meetings of town government this week, described below with information on how to attend. Highlights include:
Monday, Oct. 17: Recreation Commission discusses pickleball court construction with possible lights along with upcoming programming;
Tuesday, Oct. 18: Board of Assessor's discusses setting the FY 2023 tax rate;
Wednesday, Oct. 19: Zoning Board of Appeals holds public hearings on variances and special permits being sought at 129 Dover Road, 105 Phillips Brooks Road and 754 High Street.
Recreation Commission Meeting via Zoom, Monday, October 17, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. The commission will discuss activities for middle school children, upgrading Sheehan courts, pickleball court construction with possibility of lights, after school program, summer surveys and winter programming, New Years Eve fireworks and other matters. Board of Library Trustees Meeting via Zoom, Monday October 17, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. The board will hear a report from the director, updates about a Poet Laureate, library facilities, Islington Branch Library, and an update from Friends of the Library. For information on how to join, click here.
West Suburban Veterans’ Services District Meeting via Zoom, Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. On the agenda are Citizen Speak, hiring a new deputy director, reclassifying salaries and updating job descriptions. For information to join, click here.
Board of Assessor's In-Person Meeting, Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at 5:30 p.m. The board will discuss setting the FY 2023 tax rate. It will also enter Executive Session to discuss settlement of ATB case with Green Company. This meeting will be held in the Jaillet Room of the Westwood Police Station at 588 High Street. Charter Review Committee In-Person Meeting, Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. The committee will discuss matters with elected officials, responses to a survey, and public participation, among other items. Personnel Board In-Person Meeting, Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. Two ATP job descriptions and one SEIU job description will be discussed. For more information, click here.
Zoning Board of Appeals Public Hearings via Zoom, Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. The board will hear three applications:
(1) At 129 Dover Road, a variance is being sought for a sunroom addition that has been attached to the single-family residence, following a building permit that had been issued for a detached shed. The sunroom addition does not conform to setback requirements.
(2) At 105 Phillips Brooks Road, a special permit is being sought to make a currently unpermited apartment within the single-family residence in conformance with requirements for accessory apartments. The petitioner proposes to add a second egress and additional square footage that would meet and exceed the required minimum floor area of 500 square feet.
(3) At 754 High Street, the petitioner seeks a variance to construct an accessory apartment that would be 1361 square feet, exceeding the maximum size allowed of 900 square feet.
