Photo Gallery: Westwood Residents Unite by Light in Support of Westwood Community Chest and Neighbors in Need (Updated 12/15/22)
New snow fell on early Sunday evening, December 11, 2022, but event participants in Westwood Community Chest's (WCC's) first ever Luminary Light created scenes around different parts of town that were bright and cozy.
WCC, a volunteer-run non-profit organization which provides confidential, short-term financial assistance grants to Westwood residents, sold simple luminary kits as both an event experience and a fundraiser. All funds raised from the luminary kit sales will to go WCC's grants for Westwood neighbors in need of a helping hand.
The luminary kits each contained 10 paper bags, 10 tea lights, 10 containers for holding water to float the candles and instructions on assembling the luminaries. Event participants were also invited to substitute battery operated tea lights instead of the candles if they wished.
Hundreds of the kits were sold, with sales closing just two hours before the event began at 5:00 p.m. It lasted until 8:00 p.m. Here's what Luminary Night looked like, in photos, below. Additional photos can be viewed here.
