Washington, DC — On Wednesday, February 1, 2023, Congressman Jake Auchincloss (D, MA-04) received an appointment from House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries to serve on the United States House Select Committee on Strategic Competition between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party. As described by Politico, this newly created committee will “assess the myriad military, economic and technological challenges posed by China.” Appointments to this committee are at the discretion of leadership.
Congressman Auchincloss reacted, stating, “This Congress, and my generation, have an opportunity to rise above politics to chart a course for sound strategy. The best answers to Sino-American competition will be found in the United States, not in China. Our own cultivation of freedom, democracy, and science will be the hallmarks of a winning strategy. If Americans allow this heritage to wither, then no plan can save us. If we re-invigorate these strengths, then no nation can outcompete us. I’m ready to chart that course.”
I am in complete support of the refurbishing and reopening of Norwood Hospital. I was working at Saint Elizabeth during this time. When steward took over our HOSPITAL group, Caritas Christie. They decimated not only our hospitals, but also two hospitals in the tiny nation of Malta.

Senator Rush is correct re: the ambulatory services. One only has to drive on RTE 109/Westwood to see the number of out of town ambulances going through town at all times of the day. Then they have to get to Boston or Needham.
