Westwood Food Pantry and Cub Scouts Team Up for Townwide Food Drive on November 16th
Thanks to Westwood Food Pantry and Westwood Cub Scouts for contributing this news to Westwood Minute.
The Westwood Cub Scout Pack will once again be hosting its annual "Scouting For Food" Drive to benefit the Westwood Food Pantry on Saturday, November 16th. All residents are encouraged to participate in this drive that stocks the food pantry's shelves for the coming months.
Over the weekend of November 9 to November 10, members of the Cub Scouts will be heading out in their neighborhoods distributing flyers about the drive. If you receive a flyer at your door and would like to participate, please package up your non-perishable donations and leave them outside your front door by 8 a.m. on Saturday, November 16th. The scouts will stop by and pick them up.
If you donโt receive a flyer, plan on stopping by the Thurston Middle School Cafeteria 850 High Street on Saturday, November 16th between 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. for curbside drop-off of non-perishable donations. Volunteers will be on-hand to unload your car and accept your donations.
The most needed items are canned fruits and vegetables, canned tuna and chicken, baked beans, condiments, balsamic vinegar, olive oil, salad dressings, cookies, crackers, peanut butter and jelly, pancake and cake mixes, maple syrup, pasta and pasta sauce, toothpaste and tooth brushes, paper towels, toilet paper, shampoo, body wash, soap and adult sanitary products (size large and XL).
Donations of food are also always accepted at the Westwood Food Pantry bin near the checkout area at Roche Bros in Westwood, and at the Westwood Council On Aging at 60 Nahatan Street during business hours.
Currently, there are also collection bins at the Westwood Public Library, Wentworth Hall, Westwood Police Station and the Westwood Town Hall.
