A Norwood based trust has claimed $1 million in prize money from the December 13, 2024 drawing for Mega Millions, according to WWLP.com 22 News which reported the news on January 5, 2025.
In its record of winners, Mass Lottery notes that the winning Mega Millions ticket was purchased at Ghafour Fuel in Norwood. The winning numbers were 36, 43, 52, 58, 65 .
In playing Mega Millions, entrants pay $2 to play. They select five numbers between 1 to 70, and one Mega Ball number between 1 to 25. The numbers can be selected either manually or randomly generated by a computer.
To win $1 million, the Mega Millions entrant's five numbers must match all five of the the drawing numbers. According to the Mass Lottery, the probability of all five numbers matching are 1 in 12,607,306.
A match with the Mega Ball number would have resulted in a multiplication of winnings. However that number was not matched on December 13th.
