In Westwood on Thursday evening, January 22nd, former New England Patriots captain Matthew Slater drew over 200 guests to the One World, One Heart fundraiser which he co-hosted, and helped to raise $50,000 to support the Massachusetts General Hospital's Global Cardiovascular Health Program, announced a program representative.
The cocktail fundraiser was held at Mercedes-Benz of Westwood and co-hosted by Dr. Shahrzad Slater, a pathologist and founder and executive director of the Slater Family Foundation. Funds raised from the event will be directed the program's work to combat rheumatic heart disease in Cape Verde.
Supporters were given the opportunity to enjoy Cape Verdean cuisine and a raffle and hear speakers that included the co-hosts, two cardiologists, and a Cape Verdean patient.
