In a ribbon-cutting ceremony in Westwood on Tuesday, November 25th to celebrate the mixed-use, multi-family housing project completed under the MBTA Communities Act, developer Giorgio Petruzziello was joined by local and state officials, including Massachusetts Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll.

The new development, called The Block at 22 Everett, is located on 6.18 acres and it includes both residential and commercial space. There are 160 apartments, 39 of which fall into the category of affordable housing. When completed, the commercial space will span 12,000 square feet.

"Today, we all gathered to celebrate a new beginning for Westwood," said Lt. Governor Driscoll. "This project came to life through public-private partnership and our administration was proud to provide support," she said.

"The Block at 22 Everett Street stands as an example of what can be achieved when a developer works collaboratively with town officials. While I take pride in all of my developments, The Block at 22 Everett Street is truly exceptional," said Mr. Petruzziello, president and CEO of Supreme Companies. "In addition to offering much needed housing, including affordable housing in beautiful buildings, the project provided the opportunity to restore and clean-up a long blighted industrial site."

Along with the lieutenant governor, other state and local officials on hand to mark the occasion included Secretary of Housing & Livable Communities Ed Augustus, Senator Michael Rush, Representative Paul McMurtry, and Westwood Select Board members Robert Gotti and Marianne Cummings. Acting as emcee to the event was Antonio Petruzziello.

Several years ago, Mr. Petruzziello undertook the redevelopment of properties in Westwood's Islington Center, an area of commercial and residential use on Washington Street where apartments are situated above local storefronts, and are in close proximity to the new home for Islington Branch Library, along with a location of the national chain drugstore, CVS.

Mr. Petruzziello's next development project with Supreme Companies will be located in Dedham, and is being called The Campus at 128.
