Westwood Police Investigate Stolen Vehicle and Numerous Motor Vehicle Break-ins

The Westwood Police Department is reminding residents to lock their vehicles and secure valuables, while police say they are investigating the theft of an unlocked vehicle on Friday morning, June 19, and more than a dozen reports made that same day of unsecured items being taken from unlocked vehicles in neighborhoods across Westwood.

Police say the stolen motor vehicle was taken from a residence on Salisbury Drive between 12:00 a.m. and 1:00 a.m. The vehicle was later recovered. When it was processed for evidence, police say they discovered items believed to have come from vehicle break-ins in other communities.

According to Westwood Police, AirPods, credit cards, purses, sunglasses, cash and spare change were among the unsecured items reported missing from vehicle break-ins that were reported in Westwood on Friday.

Westwood Police Department detectives are actively collaborating with other agencies to identify the suspect or suspects. In response to the break-ins, officers will conduct extra patrols in impacted neighborhoods, according to Detective Lieutenant Chris Aylward.

Police ask that residents report suspected vehicle break-ins to the department at 781-320-1000.

Thanks to Detective Lieutenant Chris Aylward and Westwood Police Department for sharing this news with Westwood Minute.
