Things To Do Around Westwood This Weekend: Friday, September 18 to Sunday, September 20

Local festivals and family-friendly events pack the calendar this weekend! Westwood Day arrives at Westwood High School, with a football game and fireworks on Friday night to kick off Saturday's activities.
If you missed the Greek Festival in Westwood last week, there's another opportunity to sample Greek culture and food at the Boston Greek Festival in Brookline this Friday through Sunday. Also running throughout the weekend is the New England Fall Flower Show in Wellesley.
The outdoor summer celebration theme continues with Main Street Live, a gathering with games, music, food and community in Walpole. Children can enjoy learning about monarchs and how to protect them at the 6th Annual Newton Monarch Festival, held in a park setting with a play area and gardens.
And beyond the weekend's celebrations is a giveaway at the Junk Teens warehouse on Sunday, where visitors can look for used furniture and household items and give them a second home.

6th Annual Newton Monarch Festival - Sat Sept 19 9:00 am

Join this free community event to learn about nature and butterflies and how to protect them. Observe monarchs at every stage of their life cycle. This event runs from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and includes games, activities, crafts, and coloring in a park setting that includes swings and a play area. [more details]

Following fireworks and football on Friday night, Saturday's activities start with a 5K at 9:15 a.m. and Fun Run at 10:15 a.m. The fun continues until 3:00 p.m. and will include a vendor village, entertainment, food court, Roaming Railroad, face painting, sports demonstrations, a K9 demonstration, crafts, and games. Furniture and Household Item Giveaway - Sun Sept 20 4:00 pm
Junk Teens
Junk Teens is opening its warehouse at 61 Endicott Street, Building 33, Norwood, for a first-come, first-served giveaway. The event runs from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and aims to put usable furniture and household items from Junk Teens cleanouts directly into the hands of local families instead of sending them for disposal.
