The Town of Westwood on September 17 announced that, for the 29th consecutive year, it has been awarded the Government Finance Officers Association's GFOA Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year that ended on June 30, 2025.

In the municipal world, the GFOA Certificate of Achievement is considered a high level of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting.

"It's an honor to be recognized by the GFOA," said Finance Director and Treasurer/Collector Stephanie McManus. "This recognition reflects the Town's ongoing commitment to accountability, transparency, and excellence in financial reporting."

On September 18, the Town of Canton announced that it had received the GFOA Certificate of Achievement for the 20th consecutive year, also based on its annual comprehensive financial report.

"This is a milestone, and it sets the bar for years to come," said Canton Finance Director Allyson Podgurski.

In both cases, GFOA reportedly commended the towns for their "spirit of disclosure" in their financial reporting.

Thanks to the Town of Westwood and the Town of Canton for sharing their news with Westwood Minute.
