Police Log: Caller Reports Tractor-Trailer Ran Them Off the Road and Other Incidents

Tuesday, September 22
Minor Injuries in School Bus Crash
3:38 p.m. Dispatch received calls reporting a bus crash off of Downey Street near Phillips Brooks Road. The cause of the crash was unknown, and the bus driver was cooperative. The driver and one student were transported to the hospital with minor injuries. No major injuries were reported. The bus was towed from the scene. Sunday, September 20
Late Night Work
12:35 a.m. A caller reported that the caller’s daughter had not returned home from working at a restaurant on University Avenue. Police spoke to the manager and learned that all employees were working late, and that she would return home later.
SUV Crashes into Two Cars on East Street Rotary
10:39 a.m. Police responded to a three-car accident on East Street Rotary. A 2010 Acura RDX SUV rear-ended a 2015 Lexus, causing rear-end damage, then attempted to pass the Lexus. The RDX crashed into another vehicle – a Toyota Tacoma - causing damage to the Tacoma’s passenger side. The RDX then pulled over, with front end damage. The driver of the Lexus, a resident of Boston, was transported to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Needham with minor injuries. The driver of the RDX, a resident of Hyde Park, was cited for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and failure to stop or yield.
Child Reported Biking Alone at Night
7:57 p.m. Police received a call expressing concern about a child who was dressed all in black and riding a bicycle alone in the area of Pond Street and Pond Plain Road. Police responded to the area but did not locate anyone fitting that description.
Saturday, September 19
Lost Car
11:57 a.m. On Westwood Day, a female contacted police after being unable to find her parked vehicle. After 20 minutes, she found it around Church Street.
Friday, September 18
Speeding with an Expired License
1:49 p.m. An officer stopped a Ford Transit van for traveling at 45 m.p.h. in a 30 m.p.h. zone on Hartford Street near Burgess Avenue. The driver produced and expired driver’s license. Police issued the driver a citation for driving on an expired license and for speeding.
Shoplifting Report Leads to Two-Year Trespass
5:44 p.m. Police were summoned to Nordstrom Rack on University Avenue, where a male suspect was cooperating with store staff. Staff told police that the suspect had taken a Kenneth Cole watch from its box, placed it on his wrist, and exited the store without paying. The watch was valued at $24.97. The Brockton resident was trespassed from all Nordstrom Rack stores for two years.
Thursday, September 17
Price Tag Switching
5:09 p.m. Police responded to Target on University Avenue for a report of shoplifting. Store staff intercepted a suspect who was believed to have taken items worth a total of $276. The items were four duvets, a set of fake nails, shoes, and bras. The female was suspected of removing price tags and switching them with lower priced tags. Staff alleged that she removed price tags from children’s shoes and placed them on women’s shoes. The suspect, a Wellesley resident, will be summoned for one count of shoplifting by asportation.
Wednesday, September 16
Assisting Norwood Police in Search for Female
7:51 p.m. Norwood Police contacted Westwood Police in the course of searching for a female who was believed to be in danger of self-harm. Westwood Police located the individual on Providence Highway, on a walking path between Wilson Way and East Street. She was cooperative, and Norwood Police transported her to a community care center.

Caller Reports Tractor-Trailer Ran Them Off Road
1:50 p.m. A caller reported being run off the road by a tractor-trailer on University Avenue in Norwood. The caller was advised to contact Norwood Police.
Monday, September 14
Suspicious Vehicle Belongs to Neighbor
4:16 p.m. A resident reported being suspicious of a Jeep that had been parked on and off in the area of Cherry and Elm streets for one month. Police investigated and learned that the Jeep was owned by a neighbor who lives on another nearby street.
