The picturesque Italian city of Lucca has the honor of being the birthplace of the country's most famous composer, Giacomo Puccini (1858-1924). While known mainly for his operas (e.g., La boheme, Tosca, Madam Butterfly), he produced compositions for other ensembles, including the Messa di Gloria, for soloists, chorus, and orchestra. DCS is thrilled to present this immensely tuneful work, along with a setting of the Magnificat by Giacomo "Senior" (1712-1781), the younger composer's great-great-grandfather.
This program is a celebration of family and music! The volunteer Dedham Choral Society singers include Westwood residents Brian and Leslie Davie, Randa Khuri and Suzanne Stanke who will be joined by soloists tenor Brendan Buckley and baritone Bradford Gleim, and an orchestra.
As is tradition, the audience will have the opportunity to raise their voices in traditional carols, accompanied by full chorus and orchestra. A special occasion not to be missed!
