On Monday, January 9, 2023, around 11:12 a.m.,Westwood Police responded to the scene of a one-vehicle accident with serious injuries in Westwood on US Route 1 South near Interstate 95.
A 61 year-old woman from Framingham was driving a 2015 Nissan Versa, headed south in the right lane of Route 1, when according to witnesses, her vehicle drifted onto the shoulder. The Versa struck an Eversource electric pole that is located between the properties of Shell gas station's Seasons Corner Market and Dunkin.’
According to a Tweet by Massachusetts Department of Transportation, the collision brought down the electric pole and/or wires.
Westwood Police note that after striking the pole, the Versa rotated 90 degrees to the left, blocking the southbound travel lane.
Westwood Fire paramedics arrived to extract the driver from the vehicle and provide medical care. Roadways were closed with the assistance of police from Dedham, Norwood, and the state.
Around 11:51 a.m., the injured driver, who suffered serious injuries, was transported by MedFlight to Boston Medical Center. Westwood Police are working with state police to reconstruct the accident.
Thanks to Lieutenant Christopher Sheehy and the Westwood Police Department for contributing information for this article.
Sunny, with a high of 91 and low of 63 degrees. Sunny in the morning, partly cloudy during the afternoon and evening, clear overnight.
This needed to happen 5 years ago. But now the real wrangling begins as MPT will fight to get as much $$$ as they can from the state as possible”just compensation.”
I appreciate all of the work and time that the FS1 Steering Committee and Select Board have put into this process. I've also noticed a big difference in communication around this from the town on Facebook and Westwood Wire. This feels like a much different process than the first time around.
Combing the FS1 vote with the general election makes a ton of sense, and in fact, makes me wonder why not do this will ALL elections instead of holding town elections in April?
Just a reminder that you can e-mail the FS1 Committee at FS1Committee@westwoodma.gov with questions/feedback, etc.
Two different votes for the Project?
First one in October for 'site selection, budget, and funding sources' for a new FS1.
Then, a November vote for 'designing, constructing, equipping, and furnishing' of a new FS1.
Seems repetitive.
