Westwood, MA – Coach Timothy Gardner of Newton is returning to the helm of Xaverian Brothers High School's (Xaverian's) lacrosse program as the Head Varsity Lacrosse Coach starting in spring 2024. Gardner, whose previous 20-year coaching run was marked by seven Catholic Conference championships, a state title, 240 wins, and multiple Coach of the Year awards from both the Boston Globe and Boston Herald, is enthusiastic about picking up where he left off.
"I am very excited about returning to Xaverian lacrosse, along with my assistant coach, Bob Buckley [],” says Gardner. “We are looking forward to working with such a great group of experienced seniors and continuing the strong tradition of excellence that Xaverian lacrosse embodies."
Xaverian’s Athletic Director, Ted Currle [], is confident in the 2024 coaching team, saying, “We are thrilled to have Coach Gardner back at the helm along with Coach Buckley. Their professionalism, leadership, and knowledge of the sport will undoubtedly put the Hawks in position for a great season.”
Thanks to Xaverian Brothers High School for contributing this news to Westwood Minute.
Sunny, with a high of 91 and low of 63 degrees. Sunny in the morning, partly cloudy during the afternoon and evening, clear overnight.
This needed to happen 5 years ago. But now the real wrangling begins as MPT will fight to get as much $$$ as they can from the state as possible”just compensation.”
I appreciate all of the work and time that the FS1 Steering Committee and Select Board have put into this process. I've also noticed a big difference in communication around this from the town on Facebook and Westwood Wire. This feels like a much different process than the first time around.
Combing the FS1 vote with the general election makes a ton of sense, and in fact, makes me wonder why not do this will ALL elections instead of holding town elections in April?
Just a reminder that you can e-mail the FS1 Committee at FS1Committee@westwoodma.gov with questions/feedback, etc.
Two different votes for the Project?
First one in October for 'site selection, budget, and funding sources' for a new FS1.
Then, a November vote for 'designing, constructing, equipping, and furnishing' of a new FS1.
Seems repetitive.
