Westwood Public Schools Honors Decades of Service by Staff, Employees

The end of a school year brings many special ceremonies. Westwood Public Schools (WPS) has a tradition of honoring employees who have worked for the district for milestone years beginning with the 10-year mark.
Of note is Thurston Middle School Band Teacher Allison Sanders who retired this year after teaching in Westwood for 40 years.
“One mark of a strong school system is the longevity of its employees,” said Superintendent of Schools Timothy Piwowar. “We were honored this year to recognize almost 70 individuals for their outstanding commitment to Westwood Public Schools.”
The ceremony was held on June 9, 2025 in Westwood High School’s library.
