In celebration of Earth Day, April 22, Westwood Environmental Action Committee, Westwood Department of Public Works, and Hale Education are coordinating townwide cleanup efforts throughout the month of April.

Interested participants can sign up to take care of a listed area. Listed areas include the town's fields and schools, cemeteries, the commuter rail station, commercial plazas, houses of worship, and Canton Street, East Street, and Gay Street.

This activity can be completed with friends or family, teams, troops, groups, and clubs. Organizers suggest that youth groups select areas that are safest, away from car traffic.

Participants can bring trash bags and gloves or pick some up at the Hale Education office at 80 Carby Street. Following the cleanup, volunteers can tie off the bags and leave them at the cleanup location, and email WEAC at westwoodenvironment@gmail.com. WEAC will coordinate with DPW for the bags to be picked up.
