Eddie's Food Drive will return to the Westwood community on March 30 for its seventh year, continuing the annual tradition supporting the Westwood Food Pantry. The drive takes its inspiration from the compassion of Eddie Thomson, who before his death at age six in 2017 collected food for people experiencing hunger.
From the end of March through mid-April, Eddie's family and dedicated volunteers will be collecting food and small toiletries, which can be deposited at the following Westwood locations: Roche Bros., Westwood Public Library (Main and Islington branch), Westwood Public Schools, Westwood Extended Day, Westwood Children's and the Tobin School, Westwood Council on Aging, Get in Shape for Women, and Universal Power Yoga.
Unexpired foods are requested: sugar, flour, cake/brownie mix, pancake mix/syrup, peanut butter and jelly, salad dressing and salsa, olive/vegetable oil, canned tuna/chicken (in water), canned carrots, cereal, soup, cookies and crackers, tea, boxed pasta/pasta sauce, toothpaste, and small toiletries.
The 2025 food drive was the most successful drive in the seven years of holding Eddie's Food Drive, according to Jessica Thomson. She hopes to do even better this year.
Similar to last year, special initiatives by supporting organizations will be in place to create energy and interest in donating to the drive.
