Massachusetts' annual sales tax holiday is this Saturday, August 8, and Sunday, August 9, but there is more to do than shop! On Friday, civic-minded residents can attend a public meeting of the FS1 Steering Committee and Westwood Select Board when they plan to select a preferred site for the new Fire Station 1. When town business is over, take a look at activities  through Thursday that include outdoor concerts, planetarium shows, Patriots training camp in Foxborough and meeting animals Milton. There are also local play opportunities for children.

Fire Station 1 Steering Committee Meeting to Select Preferred Site - Fri Aug 7 9:45 am

Carby Street Municipal Building

 At a meeting open to the public in the Champagne Meeting Room, the FS1 Steering Committee will discuss and determine which one of three possible sites for a new Fire Station 1 it will recommend to Westwood Select Board, which will be in attendance. Also on the agenda is Select Board taking action on the steering committee's recommendation. [more details]

Friday Free Play - Fri Aug 7 10:30 am

Westwood Public Library

Children and their caregivers can drop in any time from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for an open playroom with library toys. Enjoy an opportunity to have fun and connect with other families in the Children's Programming Room. [more details]



Summer Planetarium: A Galactic Odyssey & Big Astronomy

Needham Free Public Library

Children ages 4 to 12 are invited to visit the library's Community Room to interact with and learn about a realistic, giant Tyrannosaurs rex. No registration is required. [more details]

Bellforge Arts Center, Medfield
