On the U.S. Supreme Court's website, it lists news for Friday, June 24, 2022, and notably, it does not mention its overturning of Roe v. Wade on this date. For news of the day, it states: "Out of concern for the health and safety of the public and Supreme Court employees, the Supreme Court Building will be closed to the public until further notice. The Building will remain open for official business."
Read the High Court's official opinion in Dobbs v. Jackson by clicking here. The Court decided that there is no constitutional right to abortion, and that the authority to regulate abortion rests with "the people and their elected representatives."
These are great strides in addressing concerns about a lack of openness and two way dialogue raised by Westwood citizens. Thanks to the Select Board and to Mr. Read for listening and acting.

In promulgating the public comment policy, the Select Board has taken a big step towards showing willingness to engage in conversation with Westwood residents about the many important issues at hand—currently, the Fire Station 1 and the budget.
