Fed's Operational Plan to Vaccinate Children under 5 Years Old

On Thursday morning, June 9, 2022, the White House has announced that the federal government will work with states and localities, Tribes and territories to make COVID-19 vaccinations for the country's youngest children widely available at thousands of trusted, accessible sites across the country. The plan is to have 85 percent of children under the age of five living within five miles of a potential vaccination site.

To achieve this, vaccinations will be available at pediatricians’ and other doctors’ offices, community health centers, rural health clinics, children’s hospitals, public health clinics, hospitals, local pharmacies, and other community-based organizations.

Additionally, the National Parent Teachers Association will continue hosting pop-up clinics in key geographical locations. Even local museums may get involved, hosting pop-up vaccination clinics. Public libraries will be asked to share educational information on vaccination.

To parents struggling to keep up with the latest information, there are also plans for What to Expect, a platform of over 20 million moms, to host a blog series with doctors and trusted experts sharing information on pediatric COVID-19 vaccinations.
