The Elizabeth Schickel Foundation is hosting its Run Like a Maverick 5K run/walk on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 8, 2022 at 9:00 a.m.  There is also a Fun Run at 8:45 a.m. for toddlers who will race a short length on a soccer field.

The event is organized to remember Elizabeth Schickel, a student at Montrose School in Medfield, who was a "natural and relentless athlete" and  "a maverick of strength and kindness." 

The event includes your choice of a 5K run/walk on a stroller-friendly USATF certified course, or a one mile run for children aged 12 years old and under. There will be a pancake breakfast for runners. In honor of Mother's Day, moms also eat for free. For others, there is a nominal fee of $5 per person.

Online registration runs through May 3, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. and is $35 for the 5K and $20 for the 1 mile run. In-person registration is also available on race day for an added $5 per race.
