With the pressures of inflation, holiday expenditures, and home heating costs this season, Westwood Community Chest (WCC) is encouraging residents who need short-term financial help to apply for a WCC grant by filling out an application at https://westwoodcommunitychest.org/request-help/.
WCC is an almost entirely volunteer-run, community based, non-profit organization that provides short-term financial assistance to Westwood residents in need. Its application process is confidential. The grants that are awarded have helped residents regain their financial footing and security.
For the past 15 years, WCC grants have helped awardees avoid imminent eviction or foreclosure, have kept the heat and lights on and phone connected, and have paid for essential medicines, clothing, and transportation. Through WCC Campership Awards, WCC has also helped children of struggling families have some of the same enriching summer experiences as their peers.
WCC’s financial crisis grants to residents are made possible by community donations. In November, WCC has kicked off its annual fundraising campaign to replenish its resources. To learn more about the work of WCC, visit westwoodcommunitychest.org.
I am in complete support of the refurbishing and reopening of Norwood Hospital. I was working at Saint Elizabeth during this time. When steward took over our HOSPITAL group, Caritas Christie. They decimated not only our hospitals, but also two hospitals in the tiny nation of Malta.
Moderate or heavy snow showers, with a high of 38 and low of 24 degrees. Don't forget your umbrella! Sunny for the morning, ice pellets during the afternoon and evening, clear overnight.
Senator Rush is correct re: the ambulatory services. One only has to drive on RTE 109/Westwood to see the number of out of town ambulances going through town at all times of the day. Then they have to get to Boston or Needham.
