Victim of Car Collision on University Avenue is Identified

This evening, Thursday, March 16, 2023, the Norfolk District Attorney's Office has announced the identity of the pedestrian, who was fatally injured this morning as a result of a collision with a vehicle on Westwood's University Avenue, as 82 year-old Alice Wedge of Canton.
Westwood Police Department received multiple 911 calls at or about 9:50 a.m. reporting the collision.
Two nurses stopped to render first aid to the elderly female pedestrian at the scene until Westwood ambulance arrived. Ms. Wedge was transported to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Needham, where she was pronounced deceased at approximately 10:30 a.m.
The driver of the Nissan involved in the collision, an adult male, remained on scene and spoke to responding officers.
Initial indications are that the Nissan struck Ms. Wedge as she crossed the street from the University Avenue retail complex to the other side of the street where the Route 128 MBTA commuter rail/Amtrak station is located.
The matter remains under investigation by the Westwood Police (WPD), Norfolk DA’s Office, and specialized units of the Massachusetts State Police. No charges have been made at this time.
